Our Hearts Natural Love Part 1

DSCN2146Many of us have been on an inner spiritual journey for quite some time.  For many years I looked for love in the most ridiculous places until I finally looked for it within myself.  I felt that God was Love and being one with God, I too am meant to be love.  If that was true, I wanted to feel and express love at all times, in all relationships and certainly within myself.   After many years of seeking truth and awareness, and working daily spiritual practice of applying the tools of Self Realization, I feel that I growing daily toward the “Hearts Natural Love,” in me.  This is a journey that is a process that keeps on growing.  God is not done with me yet.  This is a term I found in a book by Paramhansa Yogananda’s  (who wrote “The Autobiography of a Yogi”) guru, Swami Shri Yukteswar, who wrote “The Holy Science.”  It is a small priceless treasure of a book that I have close at hand and I keep very close to my heart.

When I first heard the term, the Hearts Natural Love, something inside of me was energized and saying “yes”.  I felt my heart open up to something I was about to explore for many years to come that caused me to seek a deeper and more universal understanding.  Our heart has profound wisdom that can lead us to God, wisdom and eventually Self Realization.  Our ego and our head on the other hand, has many opinions, conditions, distractions, reactions, flaws and obstacles that prevent us from expressing the hearts natural love.

Taking my own spiritual growth to heart I knew there was a lot of work for me to do. Opening my heart helps me learn better ways to serve God with greater energy and ever deepening dedication.  I am always working on the daily “Practicing of the Presence” by consciously knowing that “God is the doer”.  That is when I witness the growth in my own awareness and attune myself to my highest self rather than being caught in any unholy habits of trying to manipulate or have power over anyone else but me.

Shri Yukteswar wrote about eight obstacles to the hearts natural love and he called them “meannesses of the heart.”  The following is his list of traps that prevent our hearts from becoming perfectly purified.  At Ananda we do that with meditation and using the techniques of Kriya Yoga that help us reach the spiritual eye and light within us.  Many old habits block us from going deeper into spiritual substance within us and gaining the deep realization that we seek beyond the intellect.

Hatred: dislike, loathing, animosity, disgust, aversion- all are the opposite of love.

Shame: dishonor, humiliation, embarrassment, disgrace, dishonor, degrade, discredit.

Fear: dread, terror, anxiety, fright, worry, concern, afraid, alarm, panic, horror

Grief: heartache, pain, misery, unhappiness, sorrow, angst

Condemnation:  blame, disapproval, criticism, attack, judgment

Race Prejudice: People of influence who prejudge others set the stage for institutional racism to occur.

Pride of Pedigree: Proud of being in an elite and privileged group.

Smugness: arrogance, self-satisfaction, conceit, self righteousness, self importance, over confidence, condescension, pride, exclusiveness

Most of us will find some thing on this list that we still have some work to do upon.  If not, good for you.

If you would like to join me in exploring how the above thoughts or issues impact your relationships in your life, or in yourself, your family, in the work place, in your security, social actions and attitudes.  Who are you honest with?  This is a wonderful opportunity to get support on your spiritual journey.  I invite you to take advantage of it.

Perhaps you are willing to take a look at the above attitudes and behaviors and see what comes to you.  If you need to shift or change something within you to make the world a better place, now is a great time to do just that.  What I seek to share with you in this series of blogs is an opportunity to go more deeply into reflection over the next few blogs and in my book in development.

Share your thoughts, your struggles, victories and insights.  Lets see who is in this process with me that intends to grow and make a difference.  The world needs all hands on deck now.  “Be a part of the Change.”  We all grow a little faster with the help of our friends along the path.  I hope that you will share some of your process so we can all encourage one another and dissolve any doubts that blocks our peace and understanding with a little help of our spiritual friends.  You are not alone!  If that touched a vulnerable place in you…. put your hand on your heart and breath deeply.  Then write me a post and tell me how I can help, what is up, do you need to share something now?

I ask you to look at this as both a student and for those of us that are also teachers to make sure we are revealing the keys to our inner kingdom of divine consciousness in all of our thoughts, beliefs and actions.  This journey demands self-control and honesty and lots of prayer for assistance from God to help us discover the joy of living in tune with the Infinite.

Give your love Today!

DSCN2049You really have something to contribute to the lives of others.  Make this day one where you honor the potential that Spirit inspires in you.  Whatever you can share from your heart and soul, makes a difference in the world.  Anyone can feel overwhelmed with the suffering and poverty that we encounter these days.  Even so, there is so much good that is within you and others that is worthy of expressing.  You have something meaningful to share!  It may be something simple or practical that is helpful to someone, or perhaps it is offering encouragement of someone who is not feeling as strong as they need to be today.  Your selfless service is a blessing to others.  Be generous with your love and kindness and that truly makes the world a better place.                                 Know that You are Loved!   Rev. Divine Partnership

I have to remain vigilant each day to stay on my path.  When we decide to live spiritual lives we are choosing to be deliberate about our spiritual practice.  Essentially we are calling upon the highest divine blueprint to impress itself upon us.  We call it forth and it is our higher holy selves that we are choosing to fully integrate.

Another phrase for that is the calling upon the Christ Consciousness to awaken more fully within us.  We are fully engaged in this process.  It is an ascension and a break away from the energy patterns we have habitually gravitated to.  In our practices we raise our own energies up toward the Light that exists in the frontal lobe and creative center of our brains or third eye.   This light of divine wisdom descends from the what some call “Upper Room” or “Higher Realms.”  Upon connection it begins to awaken a force that is asleep in us or is veiled by unconsciousness.  We feel the urge to reach this higher consciousness because we are Spirit.  The spiritual realm is veiled when our lives are dominated by the physical plane or in material realm of existence.

Jesus and many others learned to master the material plane in partnership with God.  That was one of the significant points of his resurrection. He wants us to realize the Power of Love and unity and to awaken truth within ourselves and our Communities. Practice the Presence today and support the awakening of Humanity to live Conscious Lives.

 Affirm with me:

I am not weak, but strong.
I am not helpless, but all powerful.
I am not limited, but unlimited.
I am not doubtful, but certain.
I am not an illusion, but a reality.
I cannot see in darkness, but in light.

In All the Wrong Places

Are you looking for love in all of the wrong places?  If you are like me, you might even  forget once in a while, just where love comes from.  In chapter 5.VII of the Course in Miracles “The Decision for God” says in paragraph 6 “I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.

When we think we are the Source of love, we can turn our whole world upside down. What drives your thoughts, feelings and relationships? I have noticed that my ego is always busy comparing, judging, analyzing or evaluating. The ego feels guilty or blames, it wants this and it needs that. The ego demands to be special. It is needy and feels inadequate, unworthy, narcissistic. It can be predatory, dualistic, hateful, angry, proud, and arrogant. It is always plotting ways to get what it wants. The ego is obsessive and can be resentful, feeling there is some kind of lack. Ego wants to control and it is crafty and will find different ways to go about getting its way and that is always affirming powerlessness in one form or another. The ego is all about lack, not being enough or having enough.

The really good news is your higher self will use everything you are willing to turn over to bring forth your freedom and liberate you from all that is causing you stress and it will lift you up in ever expanding realms of love and transformation. The only real lack is the clear awareness of our holiness. The truth is that nothing is lacking in who we are as the Christ Self. But until we experience this fully, as the truth about ourselves, we will continue to manifest all of the aspects of ego mind.  This will cause us pain and suffering.

We are the Sonship.  Every right action helps to bring us more securely on board. We become the embodiment of heaven on earth. There is a process of ascension up the ladder of consciousness that moves the lower awareness within us that meets and integrates with the higher realms of divine mind through our hearts. There is a  descending light of divine consciousness that is attracted to our deep desire, receptivity and willingness. This is a process that is essential to being of greater service and extending our light in powerfully uplifting and expansive ways that are beneficial to humanity.

We live in a world that cannot continue in the same direction.  The lives we have been living have been driven by consumerism and we are all suffering because our world is addicted to spending more than we have. The feelings of lack run so deeply and there are endless examples of trying to fill a hole within us up with things in the world whether it is relationships, food, money, power, fame, sex, alcohol or drugs; it is an insatiable need for attention that is misdirected.  When we try to meet these needs by creating  special relationships, we try to find the love that we think we are lacking.  In the process of looking for love in all the wrong places we become needy, predatory, manipulative and competitive.

Right now, everyone on the planet is going through a purifying time that is very challenging on many levels.  We simply cannot afford to stay in denial any longer. Be the observer of your own thoughts, attitudes and feelings. Do yourself a favor and turn to the divine. Please place any and all negativity on the altar fire of the Holy Spirit and release yourself from the prison of fear, control issues, anger, resentment and any form of unforgiveness. You do not heal alone. When you are open to healing, you open the doors and windows for others to heal with you.

Know that you are Love!
