May Love Shine Forever

DSCN2500One of my favorite places to breath and reflect is at Lotus Pond at Ananda in Northern CA.  When it is in bloom, as you can see, it is an amazing joy of beauty.

The Divine with pull us out of the very mud of our own creations and draw us into the clear air of Spirit.  Wherever we are in any moment of time, if we are not feeling joy and love, we are not attuned fully to Spirit. Our intellects may be engaged, yet if our hearts are not also fully in tune with Loves Presence, we are hopping on one foot simply trying our best to keep in balance.  It takes a lot of effort.

Parmahansa Yogananda said to “Enthrone joy in the sanctuary of all of our aspirations, noble actions and noble thoughts.  Then we will feel God as joy reigning in the kingdom of your soul, laying His scepter on the white altar of your dreams to make every thought, feeling and memory a flower blooming there.”

God is everywhere and we can see and feel the beauty of Spirit and the ever present goodness that exists everywhere, simply because God is everywhere present.  We come from that which is everywhere present and as we embrace that more fully, life blooms like the picture of the pond that you can see.

Parmhansa Yogananda had a beautiful prayer that he prayed for himself.  He said that it was the only one that he prayed on his own behalf.  It is:  “Heavenly Father, may Thy love shine forever on the shrine of my devotion.  May my devotion for Thee forever burn on the altar of my memory, and may I be able to kindly love for Thee on all altar hearts.”

With that sweet prayer I hope that you too find fulfillment in your relationship with the Divine.

Joy and Blessings.  Know that you are loved!  Rev. Barb

Conscious Pauses

DSCN2049Do you always pause before taking action?   If you naturally pause and are consciously aware before you speak and take action you are in the minority.   Many of us had to work really hard to engage this skill and most of us are still working toward mastery.   If you share your thoughts spontaneously, speaking before you think about the consequences or the impact that your words might have upon others… then you probably suffer the results in many ways.

I used to defend my right to speak my mind and share my feelings.  I realized over the many years of having to eat humble pie frequently that I had to stop this outward flow of my current perception.  My automatic triggers and opinions have caused a considerable amount of trouble through-out my life.  Even after many years of working on this, there are times when my un-tamed inner reactions can get the best of me.  This is particularly true in stressful moments, when I am tired or in vulnerable situations.  That is when I  feel less capable of screening my thoughts and I might slip into an auto-pilot mode.

Conscious practice of mindfulness and meditation helps us manage the results of living in our fast paced culture.  This is so important to me because I know that if I am not fully aware, my emotions can be hijacked. If I loose it and share something I don’t feel good about sharing, I can end up feeling upset with myself, feel less than and have to forgive myself for being human…. again.   I don’t want to live unconsciously so I do my best to stay aware of what is going on in my thoughts, feelings and in my reactions.  I work at the practice of “conscious pausing,” so I can attune myself with Spirit.  I pray that Spirit will wake me up when I am in a blind spot or slipping into the fog of delusion.

How do you handle yourself in when you feel caught up in challenging moments.

You Are Enough!

DSCN2043You can feel good about yourself!  You can feel more confident and certain about who you really are? Even if you have to work really hard to feel OK about yourself today, you can make progress and grow beyond the limitations you might be feeling about yourself and your life. Continue reading

Energy Drains

How is your energy supply today? Do you notice what tends to drain you? If I am not on top of what is going on within my emotions, I have no clue as to why I am feeling tired and drained of my normal energy flow.

My life has always presented me with plenty of emotional lessons. I realized quite some time ago that I had to figure out how to master my emotions. Over the years, I have made lots of progress, yet it is still a constant practice of both present moment awareness and shifting to my hearts intelligence and out of my head.

When I manage my emotions and don’t take the roller coaster ride of assigned meanings, I am significantly more free from moods, impulses, or frustrations. I find that I am less likely to blame or shame myself or others for any of the emotional experiences that come up within me.

When I use the some of my favorite realization tools, like placing my hand on my heart, and breathing into my heart center, I find that I become more calm, centered and awake to my inner self. I stop reacting to what is going on outside of myself and the triggers that throw me off balance. I realize the reactions are within me and I can breath new life into myself, as soon as I become conscious of what is going on within me.

You can master your emotions a little bit at a time. Next time you feel stressed, simply place your hand on your heart and breath into it. It is a #HeartMath tool that I have been using for many years and it always works for me.

Each time I shift my energy from an exhausting and draining experience to a more aware and heart centered place within me, I find that my heart leads my head into a more congruent, helpful and uplifting place. I am happier, healthier and more joyful and from that place, I can serve others.

#EmotionalFreedom is essential to my life. I find that I have a greater capacity to use my mind and I am more open to the possibilities before me.

God meets us where we are

It was 4:30 am and I woke up.  I had a couple of voices speaking through me.  One voice within me said, go back to sleep and Spirit said, get up and write.  This is a great time to write and I knew it was God prompting me to resume the flow that was evident yesterday.   I asked for help to write more consistently and I am getting that help right now.  I need to be willing and cooperative and invite the muse into my consciousness.

My role in this process is a willingness to explore the thoughts that want to come through me.  I have invited Spirit to express through my life, my writing, speaking,  teaching and I am always looking for opportunities to be of ever greater service.

Sometimes the flow is really coming forth and there are also times when it barely trickles out of me.  What I am realizing is that I have to keep my mind open and I must be very willing to receive guidance.  That is when the flow and energy meet up with whatever wants to be expressed through me.

Any self limiting thoughts restrict the energy and then suddenly I have nothing to say.  When I can just trust that I am connected to a limitless resource and it wants to share itself with me, the chances are good that something worthy of expressing will makes its way on to my page.

If you are working on writing or any creative project, just know that the universe is using you as an instrument.  God or the creative source is the “Doer” and I am a willing partner in the process.  You can be one any time if you are ready and willing.

Affirm the Truth (part 1)

When I first began using affirmations, I repeated them a few times and hoped that what I had affirmed would manifest.  When they did not, I thought they just did not work.  Have you used affirmations in your life?  If you’ve tried using them and did not receive the results that you had hoped for, it might be because of the way that you used them.  Continue reading

Listen to “A River of Life”

Free yourself from energy blocks and enter into the divine flow.

“You are the changer, God works through you and as you.  Your part is to realize that you can break free of the limitations that you have believed were so, and therefore have held tight to the banks of your limiting perceptions.”
